Welcome to the Sixth Form
A Stepping Stone to the Adult World
“Their enthusiasm for learning and their strong work ethic illustrate the high level of success the pupils are achieving in becoming independent, confident and well-prepared for their future lives.” ISI INSPECTION 2017
The Bishop's Stortford College Sixth Form presents a fresh start and new opportunities to all students, both our own Upper Fifth pupils and those joining us from other schools in the UK or overseas. New Sixth Formers find themselves in a new and rapidly developing environment, one which challenges and stimulates in equal measure. Such is the powerful sense of community that exists in the Sixth Form, everyone (whether new to the school or an old hand) settles in quickly.
Diversity of talent and intellectual curiosity combined with confidence and independence are hallmarks of the Bishop’s Stortford College Sixth Former. If you have an enthusiasm for life and learning, a willingness to work hard and play hard, and a desire to push your limits, then you will be at home in our Sixth Form.
Gaining the good A Level grades you need for successful progression into your future is very important and we never lose sight of this. We also want you to leave Bishop’s Stortford College with so much more, not least the many other personal skills, qualities and experiences valued so highly by universities and employers; these can only be developed through the kind of challenging and intense experience that the College Sixth Form offers. It is all about discovering your potential and developing the confidence to fulfil your aspirations. We encourage everyone to strive for excellence academically, through sport, music, drama or art, and through a full contribution to the distinctive community life that is the defining quality of the College Sixth Form.
The purpose of Sixth Form life is concerned with building a wide-ranging profile made up of your personal and academic skills, your individual achievements and aspirations; it should all add up to a very powerful package indeed.
