Boarding

Boarding Experience

Whether you’re new to boarding or have previously been part of a boarding community, we ensure every new boarder feels welcome when they join us and supported to quickly settle into their new environment.

Each boarding house has its own unique personality. Regardless of which house you are in, the warm welcome will be the same, and every pupil will be supported, inspired and empowered to reach their full potential by their new house family.

Boarding houses comprise a mix of full, weekly, and flexi boarders, as well as day pupils, ensuring new boarders are seamlessly integrated into College life and quickly adapt to our busy daily routine.

Our recently built and newly refurbished boarding houses offer single and twin bedrooms, many with ensuite bathroom facilities, plus a number of quad bedrooms. All boarding houses provide large communal spaces, perfect for relaxing and getting to know your new house family.

Pastoral care

Whilst boarding with us, you have the opportunity to develop essential life skills, make your own choices and learn from others around you. This helps build resilience and autonomy in both your academic and personal life.

We believe however that warmth from personal connections remain essential for a fulfilling boarding experience. We take pride in creating a nurturing environment where pupils and teachers forge strong bonds that extend beyond the classroom. In addition to house parents, a dedicated team of tutors act as mentors, offering guidance, support and encouragement, sharing in pupils’ holistic development and wellbeing.

Academic excellence balanced with personal growth, strong values, and qualities of decency and kindness, is what a modern education for today must offer. These values are formed at home and strengthened throughout the time at school with us, particularly in our boarding houses.

Boarders from overseas

We welcome many pupils each year from around the world into our vibrant boarding community. All boarders have access to specialist language teaching throughout their time with us should they require it, delivered through our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) team. This tuition is tailored to support with passing the ILETS, Cambridge Advanced (CAE) and IGCSE ESL qualifications, required by the top British universities.

Our ESOL team also play an important role in supporting the pastoral care of our international boarders, recognising the cultural, traditional and political backgrounds many are coming from.
