Senior School Aims
Education should be an exciting, uplifting and liberating experience, a process that unlocks a world of opportunity. It can, and must, give pupils a lifelong appetite for knowledge and understanding, a curiosity about the world and a delight in it.
Bishop’s Stortford College is a place of learning – a place where children have wonderful opportunities to become fulfilled, skilful and happy young people. Ensuring this process of all round growth - academically, morally, spiritually, athletically, and creatively - is our aim.
Every pupil is encouraged, taught and challenged to fulfil their true potential, by being immersed in an environment of discovery and wholehearted participation.
"Pupils are extremely well educated and enthusiastically embrace the culture of high expectations in all areas of College life." ISI Inspection Report
Naturally, and as our results show, academic learning is a high priority. Yet preparing young people is about so much more than academic achievement. We strive to allow time and space for academic work to be balanced by sport, music, drama, and a diverse choice of other activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards scheme, service to the community and opportunities for leadership. We encourage boys and girls to develop an appreciation and a love of creativity and activity, a sense of self-confidence and of care for others.
An education at Bishop’s Stortford College, with all its possibilities, means that pupils should be ready to contribute constructively to society and play a full role in it, whatever path they choose to take.
