Monitoring Progress in the Pre-Prep

At the beginning of each Autumn term there is an opportunity to meet with your child’s new Class Teacher and Classroom Assistant.

Written reports are sent home at the end of each term. Short parent consultations are held in November and March. There will be many other opportunities for you to share your child’s achievements and progress throughout the school year, including plays, concerts, displays, trips and Sports Day.

Our thoughts on success

Success can be measured in many ways and everyone needs to experience it. We aim high, believing that inside every child there is treasure to be unlocked. Naturally, and as our results show, academic learning is a high priority. Yet preparing young people for life is about so much more than academic achievement. The breadth of opportunity and high expectations at Bishop’s Stortford College will enable your child to explore new areas of interest and succeed in them.

Progression through to the next stage

Children stay in the same class for the entire academic year. They may move on to the next year as a class or the two parallel classes may be mixed. The Head of Pre-Prep, makes this decision at the end of each year, depending on individuals and classroom dynamics.

The Head of the Prep School, holds a meeting in December for parents of our Year 2 children to ensure the transition into the Shell Department of the Prep School the following September is as smooth as possible.
