The Modern Face of Independent Education

Qualifications and Qualities

Much of what a really good school does is not readily quantifiable. Nevertheless, you will want to see some sort of measurement, particularly in the area of academic performance.

We provide specialist subject teachers throughout our schools, and we know that very good teachers at this very formative age have a very noticeable effect.

We are a selective school on the basis of academic ability. Despite that, our value-added score is probably one of the best in the country and we are consistently in the top 7% nationally. That means that this school makes the greatest difference.

We all know that academic qualifications are the gateway into many of the universities and careers our students will wish to enter. As such they are a prime focus for us here at the College.

In summer 2023 our A Level students achieved 100% pass rate, with 80% of results graded A*-B.

In our Upper Fifth (Year 11) 73% of all GCSE results in 2023 were awarded grades 9-7, with 95% at grade 5 or above. 37 pupils were awarded membership of the College’s highly prestigious 10 Club for achieving grades 7 or above in all 10 GCSEs, and 9 pupils achieved a remarkable straight grade 9s.

Yet we also know that qualifications alone will not suffice for a life fully lived. Qualities, human qualities of decency and kindness, are also a large part of the ticket to success in all fields. These values are formed at home and strengthened throughout their time at school with us. The friendships, networks, and support provided to all our pupils ensure the values of decency and kindness are instilled from day one.

“The down-to-earth atmosphere here is, in fact, the perfect launch pad for outstanding performance from our children.”
