Jim and Alice Are Making A Splash in the Pool
Swimming scholars, and Lower Fifth pupils, Jim G and Alice L, have both recently been selected for phase 1 of the Swim England National Development Programme.
The Swim England National Development Programme is designed to identify the most talent young open water and pool swimmers in England as well as create a culture that is safe and positive where athletes are at the centre of all activities to support future podium success.
Before the lockdown restrictions, Jim had qualified and won several events at both the Essex County Championships and the East Region Championships, whilst Alice had also been competing at a high level in both the Hertfordshire County Championships and the East Region Championships.
The first phase, for which Jim and Alice have been selected, invites athletes to attend camps which involve a mixture of swimming coaching and education and take place between April and December. The next phase of the programme is based on FINA points which are allocated based on personal best times (PBs).
Jim and Alice's goals are to keep improving their PBs over the course of this season to have enough points to be selected for Phase 2 in July 2022.
We wish them both the best of luck and congratulate them for all their success so far!
