On Saturday 26 April, we were delighted to host the 2025 Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year competition.

Over 120 performers from across the local area gathered at the College, performing their chosen pieces across three age groups and in five categories, including strings, piano, woodwind, brass, and vocal. The competition was a great opportunity for musicians to give their playing a focus and receive constructive feedback from experienced adjudicators.

We were delighted to see so many College pupils enter the competition, with some of our youngest pianists participating in the novice piano class held on the Friday evening.

Of the 15 classes covering each instrument and age category, we were thrilled to have Neve L, Milo N-L, Diego M-E, and Emily H win the Senior Brass, Intermediate Brass, Junior Brass, and Senior Vocal classes respectively.

With each class winner performing again in the evening final, Lower Sixth student, Emily H, went on to be crowned Young Vocalist of the Year after her stunning renditions of songs by Purcell, Gurney, and Cole Porter.

Emily now goes on to represent the College and the district at the East of England regional finals in early 2026.
