Talented Artists Rewarded by Savills
In what has become an annual tradition, Savills and Bishop's Stortford College joined forces once again this year to recognise the talent and achievement of our GCSE artists.
With 3 prizes up for grabs, this year's entries were judged by Justin Godfrey and Tim Philips from the Residential Sales team at the Savills Office in North Street, Bishop's Stortford.
Justin commented, "We have been sponsoring the awards for several years and I am always hugely impressed by the quality of artwork on display. Obviously the last 18 months has been very difficult for a lot of people and all of the students worked incredibly hard. The standard just gets better and better and it’s always difficult to pick our favourites.”
Congratulations to Sam B, Freya V and Emily S who were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively after a very difficult judging session by Justin and Tim.
1st Place - Sam B
First prize was awarded to Sam B for her amazing portfolio, with influence from Frances Bacon and Henry Moore that culminated in a fabulous disjointed skull image that would not look out of place in a professional gallery.
2nd Place - Freya V
Second prize went to Freya V who blended together different exquisite fine art recordings and stunning photographs to create a striking image of a portrait obscured with pattern and decoration.
3rd Place - Emily S
Third prize was given to Emily S for her UV jelly fish which judges felt demonstrated great use of colour and technology that resulted in an almost psychedelic final piece.
Charlotte Munck, Senior School Head of Art said: “We would like to thank Savills for their generous and continued support of these prizes and congratulate all the Upper Fifth artists for their hard work this year.”
