UPDATE - Monday 12th April

Unfortunately as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the British Swimming Championships have decided to reduce the number of competitors for health and safety reasons. Sadly Alex will no longer be taking part in the competition, however he remains as motivated and passionate about swimming as ever and this is a testament to his resilience.

Upper Sixth student, Alex C, has qualified for the 2021 British Swimming Championships, which are also the trials for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in the 100m backstroke.

Held during the week of 12th April at the London Aquatic Centre, this year’s Championships have changed focus to reflect the reduced number of swimmers who are able to participate. The impact of Covid-19 has meant that Alex has not been able to train as much in the pool, however he has continued to train on land as much as possible.

Since his return to school on 8th March, and as a participant of the Elite Sports Programme, Alex has been training with the Elite Swimming Squad at the College and will continue with his training throughout the Easter holidays in preparation for the Championships.

The College would like to wish Alex the best of luck for his trials, and the event can be live streamed on the day (15th April) by following this link: British Swimming Selection Trials 2021 | Event and Tickets | British Swimming
