Year 11 Pupil, Manny, is Essex Indoor 1500m Champion

On Monday 3 March, Upper Fifth (Year 11) pupil, Manny, was crowned Essex and Eastern U17 Indoor 1500m Champion at the Essex and Eastern Indoor Track and Field Championships 2025, held at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

Manny, who has been training in athletics, specifically long distance running, since the age of eight, joined his current club, Harlow Athletics Club, at the age of 10, after participating in a local junior cross country league. He currently trains once or twice a week at his club, whilst making time to run outdoors as much as possible outside of hockey practice.

At the Championships, this season’s opener, Manny ran the race in a time of 4:34:17, holding onto the first place position in the final stretch of the run to secure the gold medal.
