Our U13A netball team were runners up at the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) U13 national finals held at Millfield School on Tuesday 19 March.

The team had a strong start during the group stages, comfortably winning three of their four matches against Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall (12-5), Godstowe Preparatory School (14-6), and Brighton College Prep School (16-7). These results meant the team finished top of their group, and advanced to the knockout stages.

In a pool of eight schools, the College took on the City of London Freemen’s School during the quarter final, winning the match 11-7. The team then faced Bromsgrove School, last year’s champions, in a closely contested semi-final. A strong performance saw the College team emerge as winners, with a scoreline of 12-9.

The final saw the College take on local rivals, Heath Mount School. Despite a strong effort from the College team, Heath Mount School took the win with a final score of 14-17, declaring the College U13 IAPS national netball runners up.

Megan Betteridge, Teacher of PE, and coach to the U13A team, commented, “Although falling short of the ultimate prize, our U13A team’s journey in the IAPS national finals was marked by outstanding performances, unwavering determination, and commendable support for each other. We are enormously proud of the girls for everything they achieved and extend our congratulations to them for finishing 2nd in the country out of the 101 schools that entered. A spectacular achievement!”
