Our U13 boys ventured to Rosslyn Park on Thursday morning to take part in the National Schools Rugby 7’s festival. The boys were drawn against stern competition from Bromsgrove School, Worth College, Wycliffe College, Hurstpierpoint College, and Fulham School.

The stage was set beautifully and the sun was shining as the boys took on eventual group runners up, Bromsgrove, beating them 20-5. In their second game the boys started slowly after Worth College charged to a 0-10 lead, but a resurgent College side ended up 30-10 winners.

The third game saw the team beat a stubborn Wycliffe College side, winning 30-5 and in the boys’ penultimate game they faced group wining contenders, Hurstpierpoint College. After racing to 15-0 lead and the game looking to be secured, our opposition scored two quick tries. With the game right in the balance Oliver T raced down the wing to score the match winning try.

In the boys’ final fixture they took on a fierce Fulham School. After going 0-5 down, the College once again showed fantastic character to win 25-5.

The team was outstanding and remained undefeated throughout the day, playing some wonderful rugby. It would have been hard to believe watching their performances, that this was their first time playing 7’s as they played the game with a maturity beyond their years.

Well done to all the boys who had trained on the Friday evenings for the entirety of this term and well done to all involved in the tournament.
