On Tuesday 20 May, our U11 girls’ cricket team played some incredible cricket for the spectators as they clawed their way through to regional finals, coming out on the right side of some very close games.

The team won all five of their games against Beechwood Park, Berkhamsted, Edge Grove School, Heath Mount School and Westbrook Hay School, including two wins by the narrow margins of 2 and 5 runs.

Up against Heath Mount, the girls batted first and, in a day, dominated by extras, the Heath Mount bowlers only gave away three but the team still managed to post a total of 238 for the loss of only one wicket, putting them in a competitive position. The girls then produced a masterclass with the ball in hand and managed to restrict Heath Mount to 220 taking four wickets in the process.

Up next was Westbrook Hay in a final play-off match in a high-scoring affair. Once again the girls batted first and scored an incredible 267-1, their highest score of the day. Westbrook Hay then came out with some fine attacking intent, scoring very quickly for their first four overs, taking them to 234. The girls then bowled the next four overs for 32 runs resulting in a fine victory!

The girls now move on to Framlingham College for the regional finals where they will represent Hertfordshire.
