The Nest Nursery Opens its Doors at the College

Bishop’s Stortford College Pre-Prep proudly welcomed its first nursery children today, marking the official opening of The Nest. New pupils and their families joined in celebrating this landmark occasion, as the College embraces its youngest cohort, in its 157-year history.

Accepting children from three years old, the opening of The Nest enables us to extend our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision, meaning that children can access the EYFS curriculum and nurturing Pre-Prep learning environment in their nursery year, whilst also benefiting from the our extensive facilities.

Commenting on the opening of The Nest, Mr John Maguire, College Headmaster said, “We are delighted to welcome our new families into The Nest today, as we continue to develop a holistic, three to 18 education at the College. The addition of the nursery class in our Pre-Prep means that one family can now be together, on campus, for the whole of their educational journey.”

Also commenting on the opening of The Nest, Jo Wallace, Head of Pre-Prep said, “Our Pre-Prep has been recognised as sector leading and provides a wonderful springboard for a child’s future learning. Our data shows that children from the Pre-Prep go on to become some of our top performing students at GCSE and at A Level. It is exciting therefore that we can now offer a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment from the age of three, to start this educational journey, and we look forward to supporting our youngest learners, as they explore and develop their personal, social and emotional qualities in their nursery year.”

The next College Open Event is taking place on Saturday 20 September. This event will provide an opportunity to view The Nest, the extensive indoor and outdoor Pre-Prep facilities, and to hear from the Head of Pre-Prep, and Early Years Lead, about why the college’s Pre-Prep curriculum offers the best start for children.
