Lower Sixth student, Bethany Norton, has claimed the title of Olympic Skeet Ladies High Gun Champion for the second year running at the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA) English Open.

The event took place in Doveridge, Derbyshire over the weekend of 1-2 June. Bethany’s winning score of 110/125 secured her the top spot in the Ladies High Gun Competition for the second consecutive year.

This score, combined with another of Bethany’s previous qualifying competition scores, means she has gained selection to the England team, securing her first England Cap. Bethany will represent England for the first time later this summer at the 49th Olympic Skeet Home International held in Northern Ireland in August.

Bethany’s achievement follows on from her having achieved her first senior Cap for Great Britain back in January, when she competed at the International Shooting Sport Federation Cairo World Cup in Egypt.

Bethany also competed at the European Championships in Lonato del Garda, Italy from 15 – 17 May, and placed 24th out of 36 in the senior women’s category. She was one of the youngest competitors at the age of 17. Bethany was also one member of the Great Britain Skeet Trio team who placed 4th overall at the championships, having lost to Cyprus in the bronze medal match.

The College would like to extend its congratulations to Bethany and wishes her the best for her upcoming competitions.
