Our Community

Invite and Inspire

Our Invite and Inspire academic enrichment programme dedicates time for young people to delve into subjects they are passionate about, sparking intellectual curiosity and igniting a love for lifelong learning.

Our workshops are carefully curated to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. By engaging with specialist staff and facilities, pupils will not only deepen their knowledge but also develop practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. The interactive nature of the workshops aim to cultivate a sense of inquiry, encouraging pupils to ask questions, seek answers, and think independently.

Through experiential learning and positive mentorship with our Sixth Form supporters, we strive to build confidence, empowering visiting pupils to embrace new opportunities. The workshops also contribute to the enhancement of social skills, promoting a supportive community.

By fostering a love for learning, nurturing confidence, and promoting a positive mindset, we aim to equip our pupils with the tools they need for success not only in their academic endeavours but in their wider lives.

Workshops are free and open to Year 5 and Year 6 children from all local primary schools.

Our next workshops will be running on the following dates:

With guidance from our specialist art teachers, you will be painting on canvas to create an individual piece of artwork which can be taken home to show friends and family.

Creating Comic Book Characters

A fun and creative session where you will develop ideas to create exciting superheroes and supervillains that could appear in a brand-new comic book. This session will involve you using your imagination and creative skills to develop interesting characters that could appear in the next Marvel comic!*

*Please note this is a repeat of the sessions on 20 January and 2 March.

Mathematical Puzzles and Challenges

Explore both mathematics and art with our workshop inspired by the legendary M.C. Escher. Discover the mathematical principles that underpin his mind-bending creations and learn how to create your own tessellations – this workshop promises to showcase the fun of mathematical patterns.

Music

Our music workshop gives participants hands-on experience in practical music, both in the sense of performance and composition. The process will centre around group work, in order to give students the opportunity to develop the collaborative skills essential in music making. This practical-first music programme will seek to support the national curriculum for KS2, allowing participants a wider variety of practical opportunities, than can typically be offered in the primary environment.

Young Scientists

Our Young Scientists will dive into a world of comprehensive hands-on experimentation. Our programme empowers young scientists to conduct exciting experiments across the scientific spectrum, fostering a love for inquiry-based learning.

Creative Writing

Are you a budding writer? This workshop will focus on how you can develop your writing skills and inspire you to make your own Haiku poetry.

Places on all workshops are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

In addition to pupil workshops, free CPD opportunities are available for primary teachers of Design and Technology.

DT Teach Meet

An opportunity for primary colleagues to meet and discuss current best practice in Design and Technology teaching. These sessions will lead onto future opportunities for free Health and Safety training, as well as practical experiences to encourage cost-effective and accessible classroom learning.
