Lower Sixth Raise the Bar on Leadership Day
During the last two days before half-term, the Lower Sixth took part in a leadership course to prepare them, not only for their new responsibilities in the Upper Sixth, but also for life after the College. Day 1 began with activities to encourage the students to push their boundaries in terms of their leadership abilities; helping them to try out new things, find out about themselves and question what sort of leader they were.
Day 2 saw the students return to their Houses, where they put their newly honed skills into action, determining how they could start shaping life in the year ahead, both in their Houses and in the school as a whole.
The course closed with a Q&A session with the Senior Management Team, at which ideas were raised and discussed to help create the legacy this year’s cohort will leave behind. The two days were energetic, thought-provoking and illuminating for all, and all participants responded enthusiastically to the opportunities put in front of them.
"I thought the course was an insight into how we may have to work in the future and was more relaxed with the outside company leading it."
"I found the leadership course really helpful for developing my future skills, such as my ability to grow from experiences and take on the advice of my peers to help me improve my leadership skills. The coaches made the learning really good fun for us which made it a very enjoyable day!"
"A fun and enjoyable day full of activities that put me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to learn about my leadership and teamwork skills within a group and explore how I may use these attributes in later life."
