Harvest Festival Celebrations
This week, pupils from across the College came together to celebrate Harvest Festival, with the Pre-Prep, Prep School and Senior School each holding special Harvest assemblies in the Memorial Hall.
Leading up to the celebrations, pupils brought in plentiful donations of food for the Whitechapel Mission, including tinned goods, toiletries, pasta, sauces, soups and more. By the end of the week, there was an assortment of goods ready for our visitor, Tony, from the Whitechapel Mission to fill up his van with. At the Pre-Prep, the donations were so generous that they even had spare items to donate to the Bishop's Stortford Food Bank! Thank you to all for your kind donations.
Whilst the Pre-Prep sang beautifully and performed their acrostic poems with poise and confidence, during the Prep School and Senior School Festivals, Tony Miller shared how it had been an extremely busy year for the Whitechapel Mission. The average number of breakfasts being served rose from around 150 to 600 during the height of the pandemic. Having worked in his role for 40 years, Tony Miller set the Prep School a challenge - to do their bit to end the cycle of poverty so that in years to come, places like the Whitechapel Mission will no longer be needed.
