Our Campus

College Catering

We understand that a healthy, balanced and nutritional diet supports outstanding teaching and learning, and we are committed to providing excellent nutrition for your child. With busy days full of exciting lessons and opportunities, your child will need plenty of healthy food to maintain their engagement, concentration, and participation throughout the day.

Working in partnership with Chartwells Independent, experts in the provision of food in the independent school’s market, we are committed to provide a varied programme of healthy eating. Our meals are all prepared onsite from a wide variety of fresh ingredients.

Our catering menu is under constant review, and we work hard to develop a catering offer that meets seasonal changes, and the varying needs of our pupils. Throughout the year, we endeavour to provide high quality, healthy food options across all menus, using the best fresh British produce including free range eggs, fruit, vegetables and meat from local butchers and Red Tractor certified producers and food suppliers. Our daily menu is also adapted to ensure there are allergen foods with dishes made without the 14 most common allergenic ingredients covered under government labelling legislation. Halal options are also available daily.

If boarding with us, a wide selection of hot and cold breakfast options is available to your child during the week (brunch at weekends), along with a varied range of dinner choices each evening. Fresh fruit, bread and snacks, including baked goods, are also available in your child’s House throughout the day.

Tuck Shop

Our Tuck Shop for Senior School pupils places an emphasis on enjoying wholesome home cooked food. A selection of hot and cold items are on offer every morning break for your child to enjoy.

Your child’s feedback is thoroughly encouraged and will be listened to through our pupil Dining Committees and our College Dining Committee, comprising College and Chartwells staff. The staff committee meets regularly to review feedback, discuss future menus and agree how they can be adapted to reflect this.

Parent feedback is also welcomed and, if relating specifically to your child should, in the first instance, be directed through their Form Tutor or House Parent.

General feedback can be shared by contacting catering@bishopsstortfordcollege.org.

To showcase our menus and to enable parents to experience eating, first-hand in our dining hall, we invite them in to join pupils as part of our lunchtime service. Lunch bookings are available at 11.45am and 1.00pm. These must be booked in advance and due to capacity in our Dining Hall, are limited to ten parents per day (five per sitting).
