GCSE Examination Results

23rd August 2018 was cause for celebration at Bishop’s Stortford College where once again pupils have achieved some excellent GCSE results.  This year College pupils achieved 65% (A*-A or 9-7) and whilst this was slightly lower than the 70% A*-A average of the past 3 years, there were some very special performances, particularly with the new grade 9s. A very pleasing 23% of grades awarded were 9s against a national average of only 4.5%.

31 pupils have been awarded the College’ prestigious Ten Club tie for achieving a A*-A or 9-7 in ten subjects. Two Ten Club Ties were awarded to twins, Edward and Jack Holman who were delighted with their results and are looking forward to the challenge of A levels here at the College having gained 4 grade 9s and 5 A*s between them.

College Headmaster, Jeremy Gladwin commented, “In a year when examinations have become considerably more demanding for both teaching staff and pupils, I am thrilled that we have not just performed well across the board, but have surpassed all expectations when it comes to the new and prestigious grade 9. I am immensely grateful for the vast amount of hard work undertaken by the teaching body who have been severely tested by having to prepare new courses at both GCSE and A Level. The pupils have responded magnificently to their expert tuition and have worked so hard to gain these impressive results.”
