Elite Swimmers Make Waves in Top Championships
Senior School swimmers have made an impressive start to the year, with a number of swimmers competing in the English Summer Nationals in July and the East Region Short Course Championships in early November.
Only the top 25 swimmers are invited to swim in the English Summer Nationals, so it was a noteworthy achievement that both Bryn C and Alex C participated in this prestigious event. Furthermore, both swimmers put in impressive performances, with Bryn winning Silver in the 50 metre breaststroke and Bronze in the 100 metre breaststroke and Alex achieving PBs in the 50 and 100 metre backstroke events.
Four College swimmers, Bryn, Alex, Nick B and Sami Z competed in the East Region Short Course Championships during half term, from 1st - 3rd November. Swimmers Jess P and Mehdi M had also qualified but were unable to take part. The results were as follows:
- Alex swam in the 50, 100 and 200 metre backstroke and 50 metre freestyle events and achieved PBs in all. He made the final in the 200 backstroke, where he came 6th.
- Bryn swam in the 50, 100 and 200 metre breaststroke and the 50 metre butterfly and swam PBs in all events. He made the final in the 200 breaststroke, where he came 6th.
- Nick B qualified in the 400 metre freestyle, 400 and 200 metre individual medley, 100 and 200 metre breaststroke. He swam well, achieving PBs in most of the events.
- New to the school and the squad, Sami Z qualified in the 200 metre butterfly and swam a PB.
Well done to all the swimmers on a very successful season so far!
