L5th Pupil Leads the Way in Cricket
Lower 5th pupil Archie has accomplished a double feat by not only completing the English Cricket Board Young Leaders in Cricket Programme but also raising the largest amount of money out of the 120 leaders. The Programme aims to "give young people between the ages of 14 and 16 the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop leadership skills that will allow them to volunteer within their cricket club and/or school". The Young Leaders act as role models for the younger members of their club.
Archie raised £800 of which £760 was given to the club (£40 to ECB) to buy new equipment for the Junior training sessions. He did this by organising, hosting and being the quiz master of a quiz at the club, as well as the raffle and auction. Archie's contribution is particularly impressive considering that the fundraising target for each leader is £40.
Archie spoke in front of the leaders and their parents at Lords Cricket Ground on Sunday 13th October, talking about the course and explaining what he got out of the scheme.
