Viking Raid on the Prep School!
Lower Shell pupils gained a fascinating insight into the world of the Vikings on Thursday 6th June, immersing themselves in a variety of hands-on activities, such as making wax candles, sewing a purse, making clay pots and designing an extremely scary head to keep the elves away, to name just a few. All of these activities were interspersed with lots of information about how the Vikings lived and the history of some important battles.
Lower Shell Vikings practised lining up in formation with shields, staffs and bows and arrows before re-enacting what a battle would have been like. The afternoon was equally kinaesthetic, with the children performing an archaeological dig and using the evidence of the artefacts they found to form opinions of the area in which they were found.
A fascinating day for all!
