Sixth form leavers 2018

In 2018, every Year 13 student, who applied for university, secured a place, with 75% of them going on to study their first choice degree.

2019 is looking like being another successful year for College sixth formers as so far, 97% of final year A Level students already have an offer. 75% of all university applications made by the current Upper Sixth (Year 13) have resulted in one or more offers – either conditional or unconditional.

Head of Higher Education and Careers, Deborah Hearne, said, “The assistance and preparation we give to students, with their personal statements and with their approach to these applications, is one of the factors for the success rate we achieve at the offer stage. We’re particularly pleased that 72 students have offers at the all-important Top 20 universities in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, which is now seen as the definitive guide.”

Graham Brooks, Deputy Head (Academic) commented, “The research we conduct each year into ‘Value Added’ clearly indicates that teaching at the College has a significant impact upon the performance of our pupils. The support from the H E & Careers team complements this so that, when combined with the work of our Sixth Form team who encourage our students to develop their independent learning skills, they are well prepared to make the most of the opportunities presented to them by the time they reach university.”

Linda Dickinson, Head of Sixth Form went on to say, “Whilst we are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements so far and the offers they have on the table, the quality of the work they engage in from now until their final exams which start in May, will dictate the outcome. We are here for them every step of the way and look forward to celebrating their acceptances with them in August.”
