The College donates books to Edlumino Educational Aid
Bishop's Stortford College has donated around 200 text books to Edlumino Educational Aid. Jo Burch, from the soon-to-be registered charity, filled her Landrover with the text books which no longer meet the needs of our current curriculum.
Jo explains ‘the refugee children in the camps in Calais and Dunkirk are desperate for an education as some of them have missed school for the last two years due to all the turmoil. We're trying to provide lessons for them in Maths and English as two standard subjects which will help them wherever they are finally settled. Often the children ask to take the textbooks back to their tents to carry on studying after the lessons - the books are precious to them, they have almost nothing else to call their own.
‘A huge thank you to you all at Bishop's Stortford College for the enormous pile of textbooks you provided - overwhelming support for which we're truly grateful. They will be taken to France by our volunteer teachers.’
