L5th Celebrate 20th German Exchange. Fantastisch!
At the end of the summer, 28 Lower Fifth pupils enjoyed a week in Heikendorf on a German exchange - a very special trip, being the 20th year of the College's German exchange with Heikendorf. Once again, we were not disappointed: all College pupils immediately settled in well with their German families, the weather was amazing and the pupils not only spent time in school with their partners but were also treated to the beach, cycling, sailing on the fjord and many other exciting adventures.
As a group, we discovered the delights of marzipan modelling in Lübeck as well as climbing the high ropes, playing beach volleyball and taking a sailing boat out on the water in Kiel – scary at times but an incredible experience.
The trip was a great success and a real boost to both the pupils’ cultural awareness and language learning. Great friendships were formed and several of our pupils are already planning a return journey before the German pupils visit us in March.
