Savills Reward Talented GCSE Artists
Savills and Bishop’s Stortford College Art Department have joined forces once more to recognise the achievements of our GCSE Art pupils. Savills is awarding three cash prizes to outstanding pupils at the College as well as displaying thirty pieces of artwork by Sixth Formers in its North Street office over the course of the year. The three winners were selected by the Head of Savills, Justin Godfrey, and below are some observations he made about the work of the winners. He passes his congratulations onto the entire Upper 5th as he was impressed by the quality of all their work and diversity of the projects.
1st prize winner: Sukhmani
What an incredible artist! Her attention to detail and raw skill is amazing, with clear influence from Freud and Alison Watt, not an easy act to follow.
2nd prize winner: Bianca
Her concept this year evolved from architecture through ceramics and a cheese grater to create a very impressive final piece. Well done!
3rd prize winner: Myles
A fantastic example of digital imagery and manipulation with some Syd Mead thrown in for good measure. I had no idea what "neo noir cyber punk style" was until I saw this! A fantastic effort, well done!
