The OS Society are always thrilled to hear where adventures after the College lead and to hear that people are excelling in a career that they love. This week we have been excited to hear from a proud Parent about the presentation of a lifetime achievement award

Kirstine, Mother of OS James Baxter (MJH, SuH, 75-83), got in touch to share the wonderful news that James had received an award for outstanding achievement within the world of animation. James has excelled within the industry and has worked on instantly recognizable characters from Kung Fu Panda to the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Kirstine shared the wonderful news:

Our son, James Baxter was at the College in the Prep School and then in Sutton House from 1975 to 1983. He became an animator and has had a distinguished career based in Los Angeles. My husband and I have recently returned from visiting him and his family there. I asked him while there if it was ok for me to send news of him to the Old Stortfordians and he said ‘Of course, please do’.

I thought you would like to know that earlier this year he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award at the ‘ANNIES’ (the animation equivalent of the OSCARS). The ceremony can be viewed here and James’ bit starts about 1 hour 28 minutes in, and lasts about 8 minutes. There is an introduction, some examples of his work, and James’ acceptance speech. I am sure that anyone who remembers him at school will remember what a fantastic drawer he was from a young age.’

We are incredibly proud and send the warmest congratulations to James on his achievements and wish him continued success in the future - we will watch out for his future work with great interest.
