The Carnegie Votes are In!
A group of ten Lower Third pupils has been shadowing this year's Carnegie Award, arguably the most prestigious book award for children and young adults. This small group of dedicated readers has met once a week in the Prep School Library to discuss seven of the shortlisted books.
On Monday 11th June our shadowing group was joined by pupils from six local schools to debate and then vote for their favourite book. College pupils acted as group leaders and channelled the animated discussion with their peers. After 45 minutes of heated debate and a break for cookies and drinks while the vote was counted, the winner was announced to be After the Fire by Will Hill.
The decision of the national judges will be announced next Monday; it will be interesting to see if they agree with us!
