Creative Workshop for Year 1 Artists
On Tuesday 5th June, a group of Year 1 pupils took part in an art workshop in the Senior School Art Department, ably assisted by a class of Lower 6th artists. The aim of the workshop was to produce a series of ceramic ant sculptures, inspired by artworks at the Saatchi Gallery and the 'Field' series by Antony Gormley. The hand made clay ants, coloured with glaze and with legs made out of kiln-proof nichrome wire, will be part of an installation set to be exhibited in the Memorial Hall for the College's 150th Anniversary (more on this to follow!).
The Pre-Prep pupils behaved impeccably, completely absorbed in their work, and both the teachers and Sixth Form students were impressed by their creative confidence and their knowledge of ant anatomy!
