College Fields Elite Rounders Tournament

England rounders u16 elite with college u18s

England Rounders visited us on Saturday 12th May, bringing with them a wealth of experience.  The day saw matches between our U18s, U15s and U14s against England Rounders and Kimbolton School.

U14A team v Rounders England U14 Development: Lost 6-7

This was a thrilling match, with us playing some of our best rounders. Ruby F and Fiona H both batted well and Katie P’s bowling was outstanding throughout. With only one ball left, RE had to score a rounder to win the match which they managed to do! The girls were so unlucky not to have come away with the win, but a fantastic achievement to only lose by one rounder.

U14A v Kimbolton U14: Won 10.5-7.5

With the girls on a high after playing so well against England we went into our second match full of confidence. Our batting performance was much better, with Bella S and Clodagh R both contributing to the overall score. In the field our accurate throws and quick decision making restricted Kimbolton from catching up with our 10.5 rounders and we came away with a well-deserved win.

Fiona H was awarded Most Valued Player by the Head Coach of Rounders England for her excellent performance in the batting and as backstop.

Squad: Fiona H, Arabella S, Katie P, Clodagh R, Ruby F, Jenny H, Lottie S, Demi J, Amber W, Phoebe M, Imogen B.

U16 v Rounders England U14D:  Lost 5.5 - 9.5

A good competitive game, helped hugely by some fantastic batting by Emelia M. Tabby B was excellent in the field and helped keep England's tally within reach.

A very respectable result for this scratch team.

U16 v Rounders England U14E: Lost 1 - 10

A much harder test for the girls who struggled against a very accomplished bowler and some strong hitting. Annie T bowled extremely well for us & Yasmin F contributed well  in the field & with the bat.

Squad: Charlotte D, Yasmin F, Grace L, Annie McG, Annie T, Inez P, Amy C, Tabby B, Emelia M.

Emelia M was awarded the team's Most Valuable Player of the day.

U18 v Rounders England U16 Development: Lost 8 - 12

U18 Rounders Team at England Rounders Match

The U18’s first game was against England Development and although at first the team were a little intimidated, our enthusiasm and all round team work made the opposing team work very hard. Our fielding was outstanding with each player supporting each other, to the extent that we got all the team out in 23 balls. It took some time for our batters to keep a strong eye on what was an extremely fast bowler but moving around the box on each no ball made the home team execute some vigorous balls.

U18 v Rounders England U16 Elite:  Lost  7.5 – 11.5

Most Valuable Player award at England RoundersOur second game was against the England Elite team and again we grew in confidence with every second. Good team sprit was the order of the day which only encouraged the girls to take chances that inevitably paid off.

Sadly, during lunch the heavens opened and the umpires deemed the conditions unsafe and thus the rest of the games were abandoned. I was so proud of our team who certainly gave the ‘professionals’ a run for their money.

Congratulations to Madeleine N who was awarded Player of her Team by the umpires.

Squad: Holly R, Verity P, Lucy M, Isabelle M, Emma P, Ailsa M (capt) Yuki Cheng, Sophia Williams, Madeleine N & Lois G.
