4th Form Musicians Impress
Last Monday 26th of February, we had our annual 4th Form concert, which gives an opportunity for the youngest members of the Senior School to perform amongst their peers. As the weather was preparing itself for ‘The Beast from the East’, we decided to take refuge in the warm comfort of the Recital Room, which provided a cosy and relaxed atmosphere for our young performers.
There was a great variety of pieces, instruments and styles and even a few small ensembles. The piano and the guitar were particularly popular instruments, with several performances centred on those instruments. Some of the highlights of the piano performances were Anish M, who played the beautiful and ethereal ‘La Sarabande’ by Grovlez, Charlie E playing the Russian virtuoso piece ‘Variations on the Nightingale’ by Glinka, ‘Prelude in E’ by Skryabin performed by Carissa P, and finishing the recital, Justin M, who played masterfully a Mazurka by Chopin.
Other notable performances came from Hannah T on the clarinet and singing; Jude L who played three times, as a cellists, singer and guitarist respectively and Billianna I, who was outstanding both as a singer, performing ‘Send in the Clowns’ by Sondheim and a violin player with her rendition of ‘Gigue’ from the E major Partita by J.S. Bach.
We are looking forward to hear again all the pupils involved in the concert in the near future and to see them progress and mature as musicians in the years to come!
