Form 1's Visit to Hindu Mandirs
Shri Vallabh Nidhi Mandir in Wembley
On Monday 15th January Form 1 pupils visited two Hindu mandirs in North London. There is so much for the children to see and experience during the day, and it was wonderful to hear so many of them say words like 'wow', 'amazing' and 'beautiful' as they walked around the Hindu places of worship.
One of the highlights of the visit is always our lunch at the Shayona Restaurant in Neasden. The children all tasted a range of vegetarian curries and side dishes (many for the first time) and, as in previous years, there were many requests to go back to the buffet for a second (or third!) time. As well as visiting the mandirs as part of the RE curriculum, we also asked the children to spend some quiet time sketching some of the beautiful carvings and patterns that can be seen around the temples. The children worked very hard and some of their designs were quite stunning.
We were very proud of our children during this visit; everyone was respectful and well-mannered throughout the day, and we hope that they will have learned a little more about Hindu fellowship in the local community.
