Hayward House are Junior House Cricket Winners

RPH Bowling v Sutton Junior House Cricket 2017

Junior inter-House cricket took place on Saturday 10th June between Lower Fifth and Fourth Form, and some excellent cricket provided for a very closely-fought competition.

In a round-robin event, the outcome of every match was significant and, as ever, it was the performance of the B teams that made a significant difference to the final standings. Notable performances came from the Hayward ‘A’ and RPH ‘B’ teams who were unbeaten in their respective group matches throughout the afternoon.

The cricket staff who organised and umpired the event all agreed that the competition was played in the best spirit and with the most impressive enthusiasm that they had seen since the new format started in 2014. It was great to see teams including cricketers who will be taking part in the 1st XI tour to Cape Town next Easter, playing alongside boys who are not regular cricketers but who turned out to perform for their House, and doing so with great enthusiasm and a sense of fun – which is what House events are all about!
