Second Award for Young Entrepreneurs
Congratulations to the team of Lower Sixth Formers whose handmade, scented candle business Illuminate won the Best Customer Service category on Saturday. The students were exhibiting their products at the Young Enterprise competition in the Grafton Centre in Cambridge, enticing the public with their eco-friendly, wonderfully scented candles.
On Saturday 5th January, the College Young Enterprise team 'Illuminate' took part in their first trade fair in Jackson Square Shopping Centre, Bishops Stortford, selling their line of scented candles. Illuminate was started by a group of keen, business-minded Lower Sixth Formers looking to try their hand at starting and running a business through the Young Enterprise Organisation. Their candles are all hand made with soya wax in recycled steel tins.
As soon as they had set up their stall for a 9am start in Jackson Square, the group were successfully selling candles to passersby, and by midday they had managed to sell all of their stock! Once the trade fair judges had chatted to all of the teams and assessed them on a number of areas, The BSC team were awarded the prize for Best Sales Techniques and Experience.
Well done to the Illuminate team, who will be quickly making more candles and taking them to their next trade fair in March.
