Upper Sixth A Level Politics Class House of Lords Seminar

On Monday 8th March, Upper Sixth A Level Politics students marked International Women’s Day by joining a live streamed event which saw 4 female members of the House of Lords discuss their journey into politics, their experiences as members of the Lords, and issues they feel women still face today in both politics and the wider world.

With a wide variety of experience, age and expertise within the panel, including Baroness Hunt of Bethnal Green, Baroness Harris of Richmond, Baroness Chakrabarti and Baroness Newlove, the students felt the discussion was thoughtful, respectful and insightful. The event led onto the students discussing feminist thinkers from the politics exam specification that they most admired, ranging from May Wollstonecraft and Simone De Beauvoir through to bell hooks and Caroline Criado Perez.
