Rosie A Selected for National Youth Choir 2020
Upper Third pupil, Rosie A, was chosen to be a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain over the Summer. This year’s course, rather than being residential, was held virtually, but it did not stop the ambition, fantastic collaboration or quality of music-making between the best young singers around the country.
The director of the choir, Ben Parry, wrote a song inspired by all the many events of the first half of this extraordinary year. Rosie, alongside her fellow choristers, then recorded the piece which can be seen below:
Ben Parry commented, “This video is a wonderful representation of the theme of cultural identity through the eyes of our young people. It’s fantastic to see how our members responded to the challenge of creating this recording and video, which they have done in a way which is both highly impressive and deeply moving. The words reflect a high level of thought and engagement with the theme and the piece presents their very personal take on what it means to them. We hope Just Being ME will be enjoyed far and wide by many, and hope it brings a sense of joy and celebration to all who experience it. This has been a huge team effort, well done to all involved!”
Congratulations to Rosie and all her fellow singers on recording such a great piece, and on her continued success in being selected for this elite group.
