Grimwade Boarders Are Thriving
It has been just over a couple of weeks since the start of term and we welcomed back all of our Prep and Senior School boarders. In Grimwade House, the pupils have settled back successfully into their school routines and have also adapted very well to life as a boarder in light of Covid-19. Here's a few words from Grimwade Housemaster, Adrian Hathaway, "We spent a lot of time over the Summer reading the guidance offered to boarding schools, constantly adjusting our risk assessments so that we were in a position to open Grimwade House in September. We were delighted that the advice given allowed us not only to bring back our full and weekly boarders, but also a return to flexi-boarding."
As part of this, Grimwade does look rather different at the moment to comply with this guidance. The furniture has been rearranged downstairs and spread around to encourage social distancing, even though we are all in the same bubble. Some of the soft furnishings have been temporarily removed and we now have sanitising stations on each floor and a multitude of wipes and sprays to clean down any shared items, such as table tennis bats and games controllers. Perspex screens allow the children to sit and work together as well as providing an area to eat snacks and play games.
Despite these changes, the House still looks homely and the pupils have settled well. We have been joined by several new full and flexi-boarders who are already making their mark on the House in a very positive way. The weather has been kind to us, allowing the boarders to get out each evening to enjoy some tennis, cricket, boules or just relax in the evening sunshine. Although weekend trips are more limited at the moment in terms of where we can go, we have already enjoyed several outings to local parks and woodlands.
Although life is different for us all we are still able to offer flexi-boarding and if you are interested, do email me and I would be happy to discuss options. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer physical tours of the House on campus, however the video below will give you an idea of what life is like for us and our boarders in Grimwade House."
