Lunchtime Concerts are Back... Virtually!
As our talented musicians have found a little more time to practice during the lockdown, the Music Department has created a platform for them to share their music with our community.
Every Thursday at 13:30 we will release a video compilation of various 'at home' performances. After the videos premiere, they will remain active on our YouTube channel to be enjoyed at any point in the future.
In our first concert, four pianists and one singer share some delightful performances from their home studios. Rosie H plays the upbeat 'Carnival in Rio' by William Gillock and Imogen P demonstrates her finger virtuosity performing 'The Brook' by Frank Bridge. Joshua H sent us a confident rendition of 'Thistles in the Wind' by Martha Mier, which is followed by a beautiful performance of 'The Giorni son che Nina' sung with impressive tonal control by Rosie H.
Finishing the recital, Peggy S plays a celebrated piano work, the 'Prelude' from Suite Bergamasque by Claude Debussy. This composition needs a skilful performer to bring out all the colours and nuances of character in the music, which Peggy does with great ease.
Many congratulations to all the interpreters and we look forward to many more performances this term from a variety of instrumentalists and singers! All of our Virtual Lunchtime Concerts can be viewed here.
