College Announces The Gladwin Award
Bishop's Stortford College is delighted to announce the launch of The Gladwin Award.
Designed to give Upper Sixth students a real insight into undergraduate studies, the award gives them an opportunity to research a topic they will be studying as part of their university course and to develop their research, writing and presentation skills to an undergraduate standard ahead of starting in the Autumn.
The award gives scope for a project to either develop dissertation writing skills or to create an artefact which can take any form: a novel, a business plan, a marketing campaign, writing an app or even designing a magazine. Students will have the opportunity to develop their intellectual curiosity, time management and IT skills; learn how to structure an essay and correctly reference, which are all skills they will require at university. Students will also have to submit a video presentation and a document giving a synopsis of their project and its findings.
All completed projects will be given a Gladwin Award with outstanding projects gaining a Highly Commended or a Distinction. The best submissions will be considered for prizes.
Head of Sixth Form, Katie Banks commented, "I am delighted to launch this exciting opportunity as part of a programme for Upper Sixth students to use this unusual term to be intellectually curious and to develop the academic skills required at undergraduate level."
